I keep seeing these Torson units for say and I was wondering if I coult fit one into a GSL-SE. I think they have the same axle spline don't they? What do you think?
Here is a link to the FC Torson - Helical Gear LSD - RX-7 RX7 FC3S in the USA Tame that 13B Turbo with a TORSEN ! |

Is there enough material on the FC one to chuck it up in a lathe and cut it down to fit the SA/FB ?? anybody no the outer diameter/taper of the shafts (both SA/fb and FC ? if there is enough material left I would think that it could be lathed down to fit. just a though Ken |

Stop and think about what you said for just a split second..... how does a long pinion gear have ANYTHING to do with the torsen unit itself??? The LSD/torsen differential unit is swappable from an 84-85 first gen, all non turbo FCs, and the 7" ring and pinion miata. Although the non turbo FC uses that long pinion gear, it still uses a 7" ring gear wich allows it to swap over Where you have to be carefull, is that the Turbo fc, uses a larger ring gear that doesnt allow that lsd unit to swap over |
yes this can be done,
I have one in my garage. the Miata tosen/helical unit is a bolt in into any of the 84-91 N/A carriers. in a couple weeks, i'll be putting the torsen unit into a GTUs diff I have, for a friends RR car |

Now I feel like an asshat... The Miata to S3 FB swap is either a diff swap, gear set swap, or complete pumpkin swap... Where as it was a diff swap only on the FC... My mistake. :dunce: |
