FC steering wheel in FB?
I think this has been answered before, but I forgot the answer and can't find it searching...
I assume if the FC steering wheel hubs work in an FB.. the OEM FC steering wheels should also fit? Correct me if I'm wrong please |
The OEM wheels fit just fine onto an FB, HOWEVER the turn signal cancel will not work. Some people this doesnt bother but it annoyed me really bad when mine didnt work so I ended up changing back to an FB wheel and called it a day.

so if a FC steering wheel bolts up...i suppose the FC steering wheel quick release will to huh?:coolkid01 ....
|
That I have no idea, but I would ASSUME that it would work.

Same spline yes, BUT it is the depth of the wheel itself (I guess you could call it offset) that is the culprit for the FC wheels to not "go back" far enough for the FB pins to even go into the FC wheel. I would say there was about 1/8th inch between the pins and the back of the wheel where the holes are that the pins mate to.

If I can make an FD Infini wheel fit and work in my 84,I cant imagine that the FC wheels wouldnt work.Re-check everything, maybe the ring isnt seated or you have to use some FB parts or somn'.
For the record, the FD wheel wont allow use of the horn......darn. I have 88' FC 3 spoke wheels in my Samurai and my boat....they are nice for a stock steering wheel. |
I must have a bunk wheel then cuz I drove around like that for a month or so and the wheel was tight. Hmm, I will look into this further though and get back to you all.

i installed one into my SA years ago. I had to modify the hub piece on the back of the steering wheel which comes out about 1/4 inch on the base of the steering wheel and grind it flush with the splines on the steering wheel itself. Then it went on with no problems and everything worked! A major improvement over stock IMHO.

Lazarus!!
I just put a '79 SA22C split-4-spoke wheel in my '86 FC this evening, no problem!! Don't forget the notched washer from the SA... |
Crazy I was just talking to a buddy of mine the other day about this very issue. I never did try an FC wheel again after this. I ended up using a super ugly FB 2 spoke wheel instead which I fell in love with since its so ugly.

The FC wheel is a lot shorter than the FB wheel, making legroom even worse.
