FB vs. RX8

Anyone done this yet? I played with one today and think I could have taken him if givin the chance.

What is the strong part of the rx8? (take off / top end/ 2nd/ 3rd/ 4th?)
Very interested now.

I've driven an RX8 on an autox course. Its a lot of fun. More power and better handling but then again, it is 20-25 years newer.... Even when carrying 3 other people in the car, it was still very nimble through the corners. Its also more comfortable and a lot quieter as well.

Stock RX-8 will beat stock FB in everyway, speed and handling.

To beat a stock RX-8 you will need to increase power to about 200hp as you have a weight advantage. Thus you will need a bridgeport or streetport/turbo set-up.

Of course if you drop in a turbo 13B or 20B into a FB ,you can beat a modified RX-8 but you are not really a Gen 1 any more.

What was the stock rx8 running 225hp?

I have s4 rotors and housings, with a mild streetport. S4 UIM, LIM, TB, and dynamic chamber. 720cc injectors, full racing beat streetport exhaust, TB mod, rastnest removed, no emissions except the sticker under the hood. Light weight flywheel, s4 counterweight (ofcourse), centerforce clutch, K&n style air filter, and a few stickers good for about an extra 10hp! Ha ha.
I figured my 7 should be around 170-180 hp but I have had several people tell me I should be closer to 190-195.

If I am running 190 and with the weight of my car I figured I would be about equal to an Rx8.

All most forgot,
Running stock gsl-se ECU and afm till I can figure out the megasquirt and what kind of hp I would gain from it.

I think I took an RX-8, it had 4 people in it though. Maybe he wasn't trying?

When I test drove an RX-8, it definitely was faster, had better handling too. The quarter of a century of technology and $30K wasn't worth it. RX-8 has a really nice driver's seat too, but wasn't worth $30K. All kinds of adjustments, but wasn't worth $30K. It also had the satelite radio system, but wasn't worth $30K.

well, mine ain't stock but still a 12a n/a, but i can say i took him. we started goin on the freeway and i was right behind him, at 130 i we nose to nose. surprised me actually. but was real fun. and i believe they are only hitting 190's to the wheels.

190 to the wheels sounds about right for the rx8... but they lack the torque our peripheral exhaust port motors have, hence why off the line u could probly waste an 8... the 8 shines in the top end, seeing the bulk of its power at 9k...

yeah, i have heard mazda claim they make 255hp, but around here i can never get an rx8 owner to race. Its really ashame when a fellow wankler cant tell a vintage car if it smacked in the door jam. After all, early rx7's laid the ground for what he is driving......rx stands for rotary expierment right?

shm21284 06-05-05 09:31 PM

ive got 177 at the wheels and i have s5 rotors, 4 ports, street port, no AFM, stock exhaust headers, 2.5 inch exhaust, t2 intake... i tear up rx8s.... im looking at breaking into 13s with exhaust headers.
