FB rear coilovers(actual coilovers)

Hey has anyone tried these on there fb?

AE86 guys are doing it and they have the similar rear suspension setup as us fb owners. i know the strut tower wasn't designed to handle all the load of the rear axle but i'm sure something can be done?

RE-speed's is cheaper and properly done, so the question is... why?

You would have to do a lot of reinforcing of the shock tower area, which would add quite a bit of weight to the rear of the car. Not sure if there are any advantages to this over the use of the adjustable rear perches, but difficulty of installation and increased weight would be negatives.

Also, the perches are legal in a lot of the racing classes, whereas any fab work like the reinforcement I spoke of would put you straight into a modified class.

yeah i don't see a point to the rear coil overs. how about relocated upper links? or the traction brackets though, both of those might help the FB

i have a full respeed race setup right now. i'm just bouncing ideas, and i do agree that there would be a bunch of fabrication work needed.

there is not one added benifit from doing that swap... but there are negitives. you be the judge.

re-speed FTW!

If you want to run rear coil overs, set up a 4-point roll bar and tie the rear shock towers into it. I have seen several setups like this and they are plenty strong.
