So my buddy and I stopped at adrenaline motorsports today just to look around and ask some questions. I was about to ask about a TII swap for my fist gen and as soon as I mentioned that it was an rx7 his eyes rolled back and he said just go ls1it'll be much more reliable. At first I was just like whatever but then i started thinkin I have 2 83s so I could restore one and keep it rotary and Ls the other. Doesnt matter right now cuz I don't have 15Gs to do it but Id really love to see some pics and stuff to help me make up my mind.

Probably a sign from the rotary gods to not do it.

Or maybe you are in the wrong part of the forum.

The choice is YOURS

More reliable? That's a little subjective... Less maintenance? Probably, but then again how much skill does it take to dump a crate engine on some easy to buy mounts and call it a day?

Seems every car guy's answer these days is "drop a LS(insert number here), that's all you really need." It's gotten about as bad as the Honda guys havin' their bolt on rims and fart cans.

There are rotaries out there with over 200K miles on them still running strong. As with every other engine, it's simply a matter of proper maintenance. I'm not saying don't do it, just don't do it because someone that may not have ever owned a rotary said it would be more reliable. There are many people that think they are unreliable but have no basis for that assumption other than hearsay from others.

granny's speed shop has a website with a whole write-up on it. several, actually. Their website is kind of weird to navigate, but you'll find a ton of info there.
