Fb 12a Track Mpg, fuel starvation

1. I hope its not too crazy of a question, but what is the average mpg people are seeing on their fully stock Fb 12a on the track? Using it at Road America.

Car FULLY gutted with cage and no glass except windshield.

looking for a range since I know there are a lot of factors.

2. Also, do you guys get fuel starvation on this car on street tires? First time I'm taking a carb'd motor out on track so don't really have knowledge if the tank/bowls/pump give enough fuel around fast corners.

If yes, what's the minimum amount of fuel required in the tank to prevent it?

1. mileage depends on a few things, like mixture and the track, but you can expect somewhere around 6mpg.

2. the 1st gens seem really good about this, you can run it pretty far down without problems

2a. i'd start the day with a full tank.

Make sure you have a fresh fuel filter (or run two in parallel like I do). You should be okay...

1. The IT7 gets 6 mpg with a Yaw copied carb and header.
2. No problems with starvation, but I need to play with the float level since it will stumble more often than not on left handers when at 2/3rds throttle just past turn in.
3. Do not run winter blend gas on a hot spring day. You will get vapor lock.

1. Cant tell you exact mpg but its roughly 5-6 gallons per hour (stock fuel system including carb)

2. Depending on the track mine will fuel starve between 1/8-1/4 tank (have one track where I can basiclly run it empty while another if I get close to a 1/4 Ill fuel starve), also due to the fact that I need to lower my float level on hard lefts itll occasionally bog down due to being VERY rich

Yep, what they said as far as mileage. The maxton ran 3 days autocross with 2 drivers all days for 55 miles. It's a 12 A street port. It took 10.1 gallons so just over 5mpg. My car has a rich bog in lefts too but, I'm running a Dellorto setup. I should be getting one of the new modded Nikki's from SVT dude so I'm hoping to be running in corners soon. That will be cool.

Thanks for the info guys. We finished the weekend at Road America and looks like about 9mpg was the magic number. Car is completely stock aside from an unknown header. We did have a oil pressure issue, so revs were kept under 6.5k.

But did not have any fuel starvation issues anywhere on track.

If you run into issues with bogging on left hand turns, try slightly reducing your fuel pressure. There may be other options, but that's what worked for me in autocrossing...
