The famous green SA22
 

I can't seem to find the picture of my favorite SA22 RX7 no matter how hard I search. Someone else must remember seeing it as well. The picture was taken at a rotary event, I believe. The car was a dark green SA22 with fender-flares, fender mirrors, an IMSA air-dam, and a Nissan 280z hood scoop. I've been trying to show friends what my ultimate goal would be. Someone post it up!

This is a very early 1st. generation. The air dam on this car is very similar
to whats available through Victory British. Your car is a later 1st. generation.

a) I posted requesting a link to the pic.

b) Structurally, SA and FB are pretty much the same under the skin with the exception of the sheet-metal around the tails.

c) I already have that air dam, as well as the '79 bumpers/bumper-shocks, valence, apron and fenders. I assure you, they fit the FB chassis just fine. My car will look a little strange with FB tails and SA sheet-metal/bumpers, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

That's it! That's the exact one I was looking for! Guess I was wrong about the fenders being flared.

You must be referrring to my other friend's RX-3 with toyota celica fender flares. He was at SS8.

You dont have an early sa22c and its not going to look right in the rear

Meh. It'll look fine. I don't really care if it's an original SA22 or not. The FB's plastic bumpers look like ass and it's my car, my time, and my money.

Besides, I've seen it done before, and it looks good. While I was pulling the facsia from my yellow '79 parts car, I also removed the tails and am modifying them to fit the FB. It'll probably come out looking something like this:

Note that is this one of the most popular first-gens around, and It's an SA-converted FB.

The silver car is (98% sure) a SA. Considering the amount of body work he did to the car, it's not a stretch to say that he took the indention out of the SA. There is ONE *LITTLE* thing that makes me so sure it's an SA. Not saying that couldn't have been changed too, but so *small* that it wouldn't matter anyway.

And I have an SA and FB in the garage, I'm getting a little fimiliar with the details between the two.


BTW, an '80 SA has the same sunroof as the FB's

The rear-bumper is a modified '79, and the sunroof is '80+. The vent-cover has the SA's single washer-nozzle, but then again I've collected that part for my car as well. :D

I'm interested to know what detail convinces you it's an SA.

That car is my inspiration for doing something other than motor work for once. If I'd never seen that pic, I'd probably have just driven a dented/primered FB for life. I'm moved by that car. :D

I have seen both cars and met their owners in person. I recall that the silver one was put up for sale earlier this year but I will try to get in touch with him just for this clarification.

Anyone know what widebody kit is on this car? Minus the side skirts, those were custom. The kit is identical to another one I know of and I'm just curious... :egrin:
