Fair price?

What would be a fair price for an '81-'83 rx7 that needs a transmission?

I found one sitting in back of a service station, the people said the lady that owned it didnt want to spend the money to fix it and was planning on selling it, they gave me her number but I havent called yet because Im very impulsive and would probably give her whatever she wanted for it

I guess the only thing wrong was the transmission, they have it out of the car, the car has Idaho plates on it so im guessing its taveled not to long ago.

I was just wondering what's a fair offer for it, or how much and were I can get a transsmision if her price is right.

Thanks

$100....

Well it all depends on what you can get a transmission for, and what it will cost to put it in. But the car is not worth more then $400.00 or $500. I paid $600 for an '85 GSL that the owner thought the clutch was bad in, turned out it was just the Master Cylinder.

But the Transmission is a whole other story...

Btw this lady may just want to cut her losses and take what ever you offer, espeically if the car is from out of state.

Make sure you do your research first and lear where to look to check for body integrity. A quick search of this forum sould do the trick.

Good Luck

i agree with anthrax. Especially if its out of state. She may not want to tos it or fix it or it may not even be the tranny. Especially if she doesn't want to deal with it. But yeah. Check the body especially. I bought mine for 600 after the guy wanted 1200. I offered him low and i guess he was trying to sell it so long that i probly could have given him two acorns and a stick and he would have taken it. The lady probly forgot about the car already. So offer like $100 bucks and then go from there.

Good Luck

since it's from Idaho, we get LOTS of snow, so check for rust!!!!!!! if there is rust, offer 2 - 300. Tranny isn't to hard to replace, assuming that is the problem.

Where should I look for rust?
I was gunna call her today but lost her number im gunna go back to the station and get it again,
thank you guys so much for you reasurance that I should offer $100, thats what i was thinking, If she hasnt already sold it
