Who has one and what scale, and temp does it reach?

I wanna get the autometer 2 1/16 guage but I don't know what temp range I should get it in.

Also does it come with a sensor and where does it go?

Go there, good prices, get the Dual EGT and run one on the front rotor pipe, one on the rear rotor pipe :)

I ruled against this on my swap, exhaust gas temp to me is one of those things that is kinda after the fact. Its already done :) Besides I have a infared pen you can shine at anything and it will read the temp. will aid in tuning... Anyone argue the point of EGT's to me?

I have one of those bad boys too!! I just used it to check my radiator and found out that like 8 lines are plugged. I ran the car, and then after I parked it I checked each individual line while it was still hot. Shine the laser on each line and follow it down...

Hmm...This one is 160 degrees cooling down calmly to the bottom...Weird, this one is 180 at the top, and then cools down a little, and then suddenly drops off to about 70 a little ways down...Gee, I wonder if these are clogged :)

Anyway, I want another one because I dropped mine and it hasnt quite worked right ever since, sometimes it just doesnt come on...I originally got mine from some supplier here in WA, but they have since gone under. Where did you get yours Mike? I saw them at GI Joes for like $150, but I only paid like $50 for mine originally...

Jimmy - Make sure you get a gauge that has a high limit. I think the 2000 degree ones would be the best since the exhaust is quite hot (autometer only makes a 1600 I believe). This was the problem I ran into when looking for mine. That place Barwick recommended has one that is 2000, but it's only 2" which is kind of an odd size. Nice and small though. www.rx7.com sells a couple that will work and look damn good, but you have to shell out for them.

Mike-P - The temp of the exhaust will tell you whether you're rich or lean (which I'm guessing you knew) so the purpose would be simply to assist in tuning. Personally, I'll choose the EGT over an A/F gauge because the A/F uses the signal wire O2 sensor, which I don't believe is very accurate when it comes to specifics. Of course, I'd rather have a wideband O2 sensor and the A/F gauge, but that's mucho dinero. :)

RotorMotorDriver - Check out www.ipdusa.com. It's a volvo specific company (and a very good one mind you) but I remember they were selling one of those sensors for somewhat cheap a while ago. Worth a shot at least.

I really like some of those dual combination gauges that they have, but my gauge pod only holds 2 1/16" gauges, and those are 2"...I guess they would fit, but how well would they stay in? I could just wrap some electrical tape around them or something to add some thickness or something...

$98 is damn cheap, Jegs is like 108, I dont think it coems with a probe either or does it?

What kind of gauge is that? Where did you get it?

Umm...Probe? mine was just a remote control looking thing that you shined the laser on anything and it told you the temp. No probes involved...

Edit: Maybe we werent talking about the same thing, cause Jegs' is cheaper, $95.

I spoke with Jesse Prather at Prather Racing. He raced IT and has now gone to an E-prod 13B. He stated that you should ture your Rotary to 1500 to 1550 degree. You can get a bit more power at 1600, but you are then taking away the longevity of the engine.

I just replaced my autometer fuel pressure electrical guage cause they were recalled and my never worked properly so I got a mechanical and I still have $100 bucks in credit. So I was thinking about the autometer guage but I know the range is just up to 1600F.

I really don't have space for anymore guages, If I get this one it will be my last.

Currently I have and a/f mixture guage in the clock location. The A-pillar has 2 pressure gauges fuel and oil.

Any Ideas on where I could put another guage? I have the 1984 Dash.

Where do you place the sensor by the way? I have a pacesetter header on mine.

He has a model with 3 Gauges instead of the cubby hole.

So wait a minute, are you saying that you're running fuel to your a-pillar? I guess it's fine, but I don't think you'll be allowed even near a track with fuel line running through your interior. That's why you see those gauges on the hood of cars, it's fuel pressure. Crazy.

Not too worry its a 300 PSI line. Im not planning on taking my car to the track so that's not really a problem for me.

Hey mike I am going to have to argue your comment on the egt. If you are road racing or doing anything where your car sees sustained high RPM's or if your car is turbo charged, than the egt is absolutly indespensible.
Kinnda a warning system. if temps go up than your car is running lean, go down running to rich. personally one of the best guages you can put on a car if you road race..

No road racing, just an occasional sunday drive, and a mustang stomping or 2 :)

Will be driven pretty easy cept for a 1/4 mile run or so, once in a while...
