Exhaust: Muffler choices, tubing sizes. New exhaust! Sound videos enclosed.
I do have an RB header aswell, but When I seen this system locally for $200 I was like F*$# a custom set up FOR NOW. It's more convenient for me, cause I can bolt this system on in my driveway.
How the hell can they be that low of quality that a freaken weld cracks. Thats ridiculous.

Got the header welded yesterday by my buddy, pretty nice welds, and good penetration, it filled the crack right through!
Painted it with VHT flame proof paint, and the welder didn't even melt the paint surrounding the area that I cleaned around the crack.

I've bought some super cheap header before for hondas and stuff to install on some of my buddies car tthat didn't want to fork out the money for good headers and that section was just terrible. Not sure how the Pace setter does ..
I'm not sure the exact gauge of steel, but it is fairly thick, the header has a good weight to it. It's not as heavy as my RB header thou, but the RB is longer and has the collector and such. The piping diameter is 2 inch.
Also, I'm wondering, since I'm running duel pipes all the way back, do rotaries benefit from an H or X pipe to help with scavaging, like piston engines do?

Got it all on the car today, but as you can see I ran out of hardware, so everything isn't bolted together. I had to fabricate a few brackets to make the system work.
I'm kinda starting to dig the yellow tips.
I also finally picked up the 3L220 from NAPA, and got it and my fan back on.

well i went down to one of our local shops to have a muffler put on and they told me they couldn't touch it because the cats were missing and they didn't want to get fined for removing them even though the car didn't have them when i bought the car. all he has is Flow masters, Cherry bomb and this cheap stuff anyways so its not that big of a deal. but whats up with not touching the car though
Maybe it's because I have the oval shaped can, and it's in the middle of the system.

So again how does the Monza sound???
I had a RB road race header connected to RB dual presilencers, I flange "Y"ed them to a three inch mandrel bent pipe over the diff into a Borla 3 in 2.5 out muffler it sounded GREAT but I was always curious about the Monza sound and keeping the system dual.
BTW is it true dual even in the muffler canister or does it join. I one of your pics focused in the muffler it looks to me as tho there was a off center hole.

Well the exhaust is loud, a little too loud for my liking. Too much in cabin noise / drone when cruising, but sounds nice when accelerating. If I keep the car I'll be changing this exhaust set up for something more civilized, I don't want to attract heat, or damage my hearing
The Monza muffler isn't dual in the inside, it joins into one large pipe than splits back into two.

I heard a guy's first-gen with possibly this same system. Similar header and Monza muffler at least. It was really loud and crappy-sounding. I didn't get a ride, but I'm sure it was less powerful than it should have been. Don't cheap out, Racing Beat header and Borla mufflers all the way.
Edit: he actually thought my GLC was quiet! I get a headache on long drives in that thing.
Especially with rotaries, a cheap exhaust is not worth having. Get some 2" bends and pipes from Racing Beat. It's mandrel-bent and thickwall, and you don't want anything less or it will flow poorly and sound bad.
Racing Beat uses 2" OD, 1/8" wall mild steel for their headers and exhaust systems. You don't need any bigger unless you've got big porting, and you don't want any thinner unless you go full-stainless. Been there, done that. Not trying to sound like a jerk, but if less than $100 on good-quality exhaust piping is too much for you, you should probably just save your money until you can afford to do the job right.
