Exhaust change
 

I will be in the distant future changing the original stock exhaust manifold(thermal reactor) for a pacesetter header but the last time i did it was about 10 years ago. Can anyone refresh my brain on what needs to blocked up and what needs to be removed.

Dave - if you have not YET bought the Pacesetter, don't - I hear they are crap. Poor sound, poor fit, poor construction. There is a reason they are cheap!
BUT - if you already have bought one then.... ooop. My bad. Maybe consider a used racing beat header?? ;)
The fact you have a reactor exhaust indicates you have a 1979 or '80 RX7? yes? You will need to block off TWO places: ACV - air control valve, on passenger side of intake manifold; and a cover over where the secondary exhaust pipe attaches to the rear of the intake manifold. Both these plates can be bought from either RacingBeat.com or mazdatrix.com for about $20US I believe. you will need the stock Mazda gaskets for these points too. Obviously, the ACV is removed, and then the air pump can be removed too. Check the Archives here, there may be photos?

When I bought my full RB exhaust they gave me the blocking plates for the ACV and the secondary exhaust pipe. And i would have to agree that there are other choices better than pacesetter in my opinion.

It's a 1981 generation 1 series 2 but a very early 1981. I haven't bought the exhaust yet but i don't have many other options. I have contacted many people who claim to sell an exhaust and header for this car but when asked " they don't do it or yes we do but can't post outside of the US (and i need it posting to Tenerife), Spain or the price of the postage doubles the total cost". At the moment i am still looking so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great and thanks for your comment i didn't know the pacesetter was not very good- thanks for the warning.

the euro market cars had the reactor up until 88ish, 1988, not a typo.

Keep an eye out on the European for sale section, you may luck out. If you're handy, as far as block off plates, you can make your own, along with the needed gaskets. Since it sounds like you have time, take it, your patience will pay off.
