Exhaust bolt
 

I've been driving around on this problem for a while now and its getting really annoying. last time I changed the clutch on the car I had to undo the exhaust bolts a little so I could get some clearance by moving the header a little. Well, you know that feeling you get when you turn a bolt, where you just know something isn't right. Well, I broke one of the exhaust bolt and there is nothing to grab on to so that I can turn it. I took the header off all the way in hopes that there is a little bit of the bolt there to grab but the bolt broke off about 1/16th of an inch into the hole. What is the best way to extract the the rest of the bolt. I took out one of the other bolts and compared it with the broken one and there's about half an inch or so left in the hole. BTW the one I'm referring to is the one on the bottom left if you're looking right at the header.

you may have to drill it out if you can't grab it.

Use an extractor? Shouldn't that have been a stud instead of a bolt? Maybe you had a lower grade fastener.

I had to extract two broken studs in my 20B.

what is your status on this??

I just went out and bought an extractor set from home depot, and also picked a new stud. Now all I need to do is find a drill that will fit in that tight spot because I can't get the bit straight with the one I have right now.

i hope you are using an electric drill, not a battery powered one..

Use a Dremel with an angle adapter...

weld a nut to the stud and grab a wrench.
