The Excitement/Suspense Builds!
Oh lordie!
Finally, through months of gathering parts, I am almost complete! I only wanted a carburetor, but then I needed a manifold to put it on, then the manifold wouldnt fit with the thermal reactor... and so on and so forth! GAH! So, after my collection is finished, I will be away from here for a bit as I install them... Brembo Blank rotors Hawk HPS pads Holly FPR OER 45mm Carb Oil temp/pres block Exhaust Gasket Jets Carb gaskets (that dont fit!) Inline FPG Center console w/ FP cutoff switch RB throttle linkage (dremmeled in half) Polished sidedraft manifold (RB?) RB header Intake-Engine gasket New Brake Lines Gauge pod Carter FP http://i9.tinypic.com/351dbep.jpg http://i9.tinypic.com/353ct4m.jpg Also, the car was a bit too messy/rusty for my taste, so next weekend I am picking up a Roller! Wish me luck, You guys know I will be needing it! |
good luck!

Good luck!
And I see you went with the black and chrome single spoon per canister system. Not as much HP but the seals look good so you shouldn't have any vacuum leaks :D . And now that you're picking up a roller you'll probably have more parts for sale? DD |
hey he took my icon!
i made it from that white one :D |
that header looks familiar ;) Nice looking project you got going there.
|

And so it begins!
I got the roller from t2ae on the forums here. Great guy, excellent car! took us about 3 hours to get the car on jacks, drained, and engine removed. We are hoping to get the other engine out of the 79 and into the 82 by next weekend, and finishing the odds and ends the next weekend after that. No pictures of the engine gone, but here are some to hold you guys back for a while : http://i18.tinypic.com/4hwqpp5.jpg http://i12.tinypic.com/351solk.jpg http://i5.tinypic.com/2rdg19k.jpg http://i9.tinypic.com/2wmowg4.jpg All in all, it was a messy experience. Not much rust on the car, but some spots where oil was built up around the oil pan and leaves all in the engine compartment. With the 82's blown motor, I plan on making it into a 13b 4 port (it is a 12a right now), and when my 79 give in, I will be popping that in! and now for a few questions: 1. The doner engine car is a 79. I am keeping everything on it minus the points (replacing it with the 82's dizzy :) ). Will I still be able to retain my cruise control? See my mods if that helps/means anything. 2. Is this a short shifter? I doubt it, but my 79's is hella longer. http://i3.tinypic.com/2lmucg5.jpg Thanks in advance, and I will keep you guys updated! |
Oh and those pics were from my cammie phone, sorry about the blur.

exellent stuff :bigthumb: , sounds like you and I progressed through 1st gens the same way. I also started w/ a rusty '79, bought a bunch of parts for it (OER, RB....), and ended up swapping them into a clean 82' i had come across. I hope you have as much fun as I did, both installing the parts and driving the shiz out of it. (p.s. rotaries sound badass w/ an open sidedraft .... also if youre gonna use the '79's trans, the shifter will be in a different location so ide suggest using the trans out of the '82)

I love bright shiny new stuff. Congrats on everything. I hope you have a ton of fun wth your car and everything goes smooth sailing with the install of everything.
