Euro crystal headlights

I was thinking about picking these up from blackdragon this summer, I was just wondering if anyone has them or used them before. I did a search and didn’t find anything answering my question. What do you guys think? I’m not good when it comes to wiring, so how hard would this be?

Also I have seen the lights on Ebay, but I’m always leery about purchasing them.

Thanks
Chris

Just ordered mine yesterday. Those old school bulbs just don't put out enough clean light for my midnight mountain excursions. I think they look hot as well, but that's just my NSHO.

I also got the upgraded wiring harness from them. I'll post pics and instructions when I get them in this weekend or next. I'm going to have a huge picture thread in a couple of weeks when all my welding and coating is done and the rest of my parts come in and the seven is back on the road.

I believe, however, that the bulbs have the same style connector as the originals, so it should be plug 'n play with the OEM harness. Someone should correct me if I'm wrong. At the worst, you cut the old connector off and solder (SOLDER!) an h4 (?) connector on. Piece of cake really.

Just please don't put the blue bulbs in them thinking you've got HID lights. Nothing is more annoying and distracting than bright blue light that isn't real focused HID in my mirrors.

:molepoke:

they are just plug and play...your new interchangable bulbs will be H4...so we all know there's lots of options for the H4's..so if you dont like the ones that came with them...np. BTW I got the ones off of ebay...NOT the regular ones but the ones with the projectors in the center..much better IMO...I also upgraded the wiring harness from blackdragonauto.com. They do suck a bit more power...so I also upgraded to the FD alternator.....hehe

can some one takes some pics after install and maybe some pics up to a wall with them on to see the difference. i think if they are installed for function rather that look it a good idea.

I'm considering this headlight for my motorcycle :)

I had a customer bring their car in for a tune up a while back. They bought similar lights off ebay, seeing as how they have thousands up for sale.
Anyhow, the notches were lined up a they were supposed to be, the alignment notches. But the lights sat at about a 45 degree angle to the right. So instead of a straight line of light in the middle they were slanted.
Did he just get sent the wrong set??
I always wanted to order a set myself but after seeing those on his car I stayed away.

I'll post some pics of my ebay ones after I get home from work today.

You know, they "look" kinda cool - all clear-lensed and such - but what kind of controlled photon spread are we talking about? (ew. thats a line out of Star Trek) I have a set of Cibies (with the same H4 bulbs) in my SA and they have a fabulous spread pattern w-a-a-a-ay down the road - a nice flat clean beam that lights a wide swath into the ditches, etc and a clean cut off at top so it doesn't piss off other drivers. These poke a deep hole into the night. Cibie has made serious optics for decades - pricy ($50each+) but if you do much night driving it makes for hours of comfy cruisin'. Check out this site for some $$, specs, and interesting wiring info:

There are high powered H4 bulbs available with 55 watt legal low beam power and 100 watt illegal high beam power. I have been using them for 24 years now.

No EURO-CLEAR, but I picked these from Super AutoBacs out here in SoCal, and they were $9.99 each, and they're H4 housings, with GLASS, not plastic lenses. Thought it was a good price. I looked at the BD ones and others on eBay, but I wasn't a fan of that smaller "driving/city light" bulb that they had. This is my next project, re-wiring the headlights with relays and these new H4 housings. Sorry if I hijacked, just throwing out other alternatives to the Euro Clears.

I bought the Sylvaina Silver Star housings/built in bulbs for my 85 FB. Do you think I would get better lighting by going w/ something like Cibies that 7aull was talking about, or any other h4 housing/bulb combination? (w/out HIDS)

The lighting from the Silver Stars in fine, but more lighting would be preferred (brighter, whiter light)

Thanks

Ryan

I bought the H4 Silver Star bulbs for my H4 housings pictured above. I used to have Silver Stars in my headlights and fog lights of my WRX and loved them, super bright, nice and white, not that dull yellowish color of standard lights.

These are the silverstar sealed stock replacement lights,

Heres the ebay ones with the bulbs they came with, I've since changed them to the silverstars and removed that little blue city light bulb.

During installation, I left one old sealed silverstar and one with the ebay light and ebay bulb and the light was much brighter and crisper. Also, this was with the rerouted wiring connected to the battery.

Hope this helps.

My cousin has them on his RX7...He bought his off ebay...Helped out tremendoulsy, also looked very well

I've used the Silver star replacement lights on a couple of RX7's.
They provide much better light then the stock.
If you want more light use a relay to give the bulbs direct power from the battery. Use one relay for each side. It gives you about 10-15% more light. Not as noticeable when you do it to an H4 though.
The H4 conversions do offer slightly more lighting than the Silverstar sealed replacement.
I think the next lighting setup I will try is the H4 housings that we're all talking about here with some HID.
I have HID on the FC and they are great.
I luv the high temp, 9500K and up for the deep blue but cops hate them and me. LOL.
The blue hue of the HID is alot easier on the eyes for extended driving times.

That's my 2 cents. :o)

these seem to be the best replacement headlight on the market. I've never heard anyhting negetive about these. they replace the sealed beam with a h4 bulb. the jeep guys swear by these.
http://www.rocky-road.com/ipfH4.html
then later you can all ways add a h4 HID to the mix
