Enjine Questions...

I don't know much really about any of this stuff so I have some questions...

1. My enjine says re-gei (my car is an '85 gsl-se)..... does that mean my enjine is a 13b?

2. What is porting, bridgeporting, etc.?

3. What kind of "turbo's" are there, and what are their differences? OR, where can I go to learn about different kinds of turbos???

Thanks

Yes, all GSL-SEs were equipped with a fuel-injected 13B from the factory. This 13B is rated for 135hp @ 6000 RPM and 133lb/ft torque at 2750 RPM.

There is a lot of information on porting. It involves making the intake and exhaust ports bigger, thus flowing more air. It also changes the overlap and opening/closing like a radical cam would in a piston engine.

This is a great site with lots of info on porting.

As for kinds of "turbos", I'm not really sure what you mean. There are some turbo kits out there... as well as a supercharger from atkins, but most people just swap in a 13B-Turbo from a FC Turbo2. This is a more ideal swap because it already has been built for boost, plus contains everything you basically need to make it run (piping, ECU, etc)

And for learning EVERYTHING... well you can start by using the SEARCH function on this site. I know it can get frustrating at times... but all the information is out there. You just have to look for it.

GOOD LUCK and HAPPY MOTORING!
