Engine Swap double checking...

OK...after doing all the research possible, i've come to this conclusion for the parts needed!

this is going into an '85 GSL...

JDM S5 T2 Long block
JDM S5 t2 ECU
S5 t2 Harness
GSL-SE Oil Pan
GSL-SE Motor Mount
Existing 12A front cover
upgrade in-line fuel pump
14" spal electric fan
stock downpipe
boost guage
turbo Air flow meter
manual boost controller
FC leading and trailing coil packs
12A flywheel
upgrade clutch, still made for 12A
front mount oil cooler

also if anyone wants my motor afterwards, make offers.
the 12A:
Factory Mazda replacement engine
105,000miles aprox.
recently rebuilt nikki carb
long block, only missing front cover
has coolant leak, but still a strong motor!(barks 2nd gear easily)

just looking for a nod that i have all the necessary parts listed there :D don't wanna F up!

like I said you don't need the motor mount if you modify the 12A one.

Since it looks like you are going with a stock ECU, here's a few more items:

knock sensor and control box
boost sensor
atmospheric pressure sensor
turbo oil drain
hood scoop or FMIC

spare tranny--cause the 12a unit won't last

i plan to tap a drain in the front cover for the turbo, and i'll be using a hoodscoop for the TMIC(if it comes with one, if not i'll use a FMIC and the stock hood)

as for the other bits...what's the availability on them? is that an ebay item? or will i have to order them from a junk yard....

you cant just "upgrade the pump"

you have a low pressure-low volume system.

you "might" be able to squeeze by just adding a EFI pump, but the stock fuel lines wont support shit in the HP department.

your going to have to redo the entire fue system if you want to make more than 200 HP.

K-Tune 12-25-03 11:35 PM

update..can i use a J&S knock sensor in place of the stock box?

and for the other parts..are they really necessary? or will it just throw the check engine light on. i just want it to run :D

i plan to run the T2 motor at stock boost levels etc. so the hp wont be much higher than stock...

is an air flow meter the same as a MAF?(mass airflow sensor)

Wasn't AJC13B using stock fuel lines on his monster? I think I have read that...

wait a second..my car is an '85. which means i have the same 225mm flywheel as all the cars up to '92...

why would i need to replace the flywheel on the turbo motor with a 12A flywheel? or is it for the clutch assembly?

i want to run a lighter flywheel anyway, like a lightweight steel.

and i know i use the 13B counterweight...

i'll be using the 12A tranny. so..will the 13B FW and clutch work?
