Engine Setting

I had purchased a 13b RE Cosmo motor and it looks like it will have to set for awhile, while I gather the parts and funds to complete the project.
The question here is what I should put in the rotor housings while it sits. Should I put normal oil in each chamber or us MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil)? I just dont want my seals to lock up on me.

thanx

MMO will be fine. Don't forget to use duct tape to seal all of the exposed openings such as the exhaust and intake openings.

Have you checked the compression? I bought one of those, and the compression was marginal when I bought it, it sat in my garage for a year (with ATF in the rotors), then when I tried to start it last month, the compression went south -- stuck seals. I tore it apart and found that the front and rear irons were both corroded through to the combustion chamber. Coolant leaked into the rotor area and probably accelerated the sticking problem.

My advice to you is to do what Doc said, and maybe motor the engine by hand from time to time. If you're like most people, your conversion will take a while, and bad things can happen in the meantime.

BTW -- the good news here, is that aside from the corrosion, everything looks to be in excellent condition. Maybe they weren't lying about the mileage :).
