Engine dying once warmed up.

well when i get the car warm and go to stop it kinda dies out i still havnt got it to idle right got the timing good i believe so where else is there to look? any input would be great 2nd gen owners frown on me for carb conversion :(

First of all I changed the title to reflect what the issue is.:-)

Engine stalling/dying is always the same when approaching it diagnosis wise.
Vacuum leaks are the #1 problem associated with this problem.
That is where you start.
Could be other issues such as jetting, mixture, etc...

We need to know what kind of carb, what other mods have been done.
Did you just install the carb or was it running fine and just started acting up?

When was the last tune-up? Plugs, fuel filter, etc....
What other recent work if any has been done to the engine?

Yep, they say alot of nasty things about me.:):)

1 question not answered. Has the idle issue been there since the carb was on or is this a recent thing.

Also did you install the carb or was it on the car when you got it?

dat1kid 11-01-07 09:47 PM

i installed it myself it will idle at like 3000 lol mostly 2000 wish i could get it lower

You have a either a large vacuum leak or the throttle plates are not being allowed to close all the way or the linkage or cable is not adjusted correctly.

dat1kid 11-02-07 02:31 PM

checked for leaks tightened down things still same thing i think they close pretty good but i should triple check it

dat1kid 11-02-07 02:51 PM

ok i checked the throttle plates your right there they were not closing all the way my friend was tinkering with it 1 day didnt put it back how he had it. question about the oil injectors do they pull vacuum. i got my idle down to 1500 range without it dieing
