Engine/drivetrain vibration

I've noticed that my car seems to have some vibration from about 5000-6500rpm in 3rd and higher gears that clears out and is smooth again after 6500 or so. Could it be something as simple as motor mounts?

i doubt its the motor mounts, you would feel them at take off the most.

perhaps its the flywheel or clutch or transmission?

i would suspect maybe a trans mount or u-joint first off. botha re easy enough to check. motor mounts often times show their wear at idle. you'll get a distinct vibration at idle and when accelerating hard, the engine can move more than its alloted and you may hear the weight transfer.

clutch or flywheel vibration would be a bad thing. most likely thats not your case because the flywheel is torqued down to over 240 ft/lbs of force and will not come loose. a clutch vibration would have negative results on drivability if it were loose. i would not suspect wither of those nor a trans issue if your symptoms are only a vibration at this point.

I bet its my trans mount. They didn't look to great when I did my clutch.

I don't think its my clutch nor flywheel, because the car drives perfectly fine under all other conditions.

what if the car has kind of a lash feeling, like when you start accel it's twisting more than i think it should. i think its the differential. it just bothers me and makes me feel like a bad driver. if you leave it in first, that's when its really bad, but i would expect that since you are switching in and out of idle. it just wont be smooth.

of course i can just put the clutch in and it fixes it, but i don't really like this option.

Thats what mine does! I bet its just the axle/driveshaft joint. Only happens every so often in my car, like after reversing.

i guess it could be a worn out ujoin? or rear end mount?

one of my rear end mounts broke off the rear end, it was hella scary
