Emissions Information Help

I have been telling my friend he needs to go with a Racing Beat Holley Intake and Carburetor. His carburetor on his 83 Rx7 right now is in need of help. He was asking me about the emissions test with those parts on. He needs to run his car though the dread emissions test soon. He was also asking about what you would do with all those vacuum lines, if he put a different intake and carburetor on his car.

I was wondering if anyone has done this setup and passed the emissions test that could give us some information, help, and input.

Thank you..

Have the Nikki rebuilt, chances of passing emissions with the Holley are slim and none.

if you can get the air pump air into the exhaust in front of the cat, you might be able to make it pass. the 80's somg passing setup was to put a corvette cat and air pump (this is the 80's, so it would be like an 85-86-87 vette), onto the rb holley setup.

otherwise you should swap back to the stock stuff

If you have to pass CA type emissions tests, then there is no way in hell youll get by.

If its just a tailpipe sniff test, you might squeek by with some alcohol in the tank, and a good cat with a full time smog pump feeding it.Mind you, that setup wont last long without the supporting air injection "rats nest" to regulate it,but she might hold together long enough for a sniff test.

If you have to pass visual and functional tests as well as the sniffer test, then theres no way in hell....just no way.The ACV and all the vacuum plumbing is incompatible with that intake manifold and the stock aircleaner wont attach to that carb.Since its highly unlikely that during a smog test, the hood wont go up at some point,I see very little chance of the car passing any smog test while running a Holley.
