Damnit....post didn't work right the first time. Oh well....here it is again.
I need some troubleshooting help. I am looking at buying an '85 GSL from a friend....but the darned thing won't start. I've been messing around with it trying to figure out what the problem might be...and discovered that the trailing coil isn't emitting any spark. I have replaced the coil and still no spark. Any suggestions? |
Trailing ignitor, on the dizzy. That won't keep it from running though.

bad igniter
the trailing igniter is on the side of the distributor facing the alternator |
Unfortunately, I have already tried replacing the trailing AND leading igniters....didn't seem to help too much. When I crank the engine all I get is the occasional sputter and alot of exhaust detonation. I'm really starting to get discouraged over this.

you sure its getting fuel?
|
Perhpas flooded by cranking it without spark?
|
It might be flooded from cranking with no spark....but I doubt it.....I attempted cranking it for a bit with the fuel pump turned off to try and flush it out just in case.
I'm really new at this rotary stuff. I know this is probably going to get me in trouble for saying this....but I think I might just buy the damned thing and put a chevy 350 in it....I have one of those sitting in my garage. |
