Electrical problem

First of all I wanted to send my regards to all those rotary enthusiasts out there. This is my first time in this
forum but it won't be the last, that's for sure.

My problem is the fuse for the parking; brake lights and
the dash kept on getting burned. From a friend's advice
I put a higher amp fuse on the box and the cables by
the headlights started smoking. Some of the insulation
on the cables had burned and were making contact.

I'd like to know what may have caused it and do I have to change the whole thing? Is there any way I could do some kind of "patch on" until I take it to a shop to have
it done properly?

I just moved here a few weeks ago and don't know of
any rotary shops. Thanks in advance.

You just have a shorted-out wire, probably where you found stuff smoking.
If you peel off the electrical tape around the wires you'll probably be able to find where it broke....

All you need is:
A) Wire strippers/crimpers
B) Crimps
C) Possibly a little bit of extra wire

You can fix the problem and wrap it with electrical tape again-- this is exactly what a garage would do.

btw, it's a bad idea to just pop in a bigger fuse when one blows--- There's a reason it blew more than once--- that's its job :-)

One good thing came from using a bigger fuse; you found roughly where the bad wires were.

Thanks for the assistance enigma32, I'm going to work
on it in a few. Jeff20B you're right about the finding. I
just hope I didn't make it much worse. Thanks again
fellas.
