Electric fan upgraded how much cfm
How much cfm would I need I'm running a 12a streetport on a Chinese radiator from ebay 3 row holds 2 gallons never passes cold works way better then my stock one what you guys suggest I was thinking to small 9 inch fans with a shroud they sell fans my way 80 watt they only move 600 cfm each will 2 of them work and how would I wire it up so they would turn on with the thermostat like the stock clutch?

The stock fan used a thermocoupler (clutch) and as such there was no associated wiring. The only temp sensors on the car from factory are the choke temp switch (large brass sensor on the water pump housing), and the gauge sensor which is located by the oil pressure sensor (if equipped), and has a single wire running to it.
I'm sure others have rigged something up, but I think you'd have to do some additions or modifications. |

was thinking of getting something like this and adding to kishimoto 9 inch fans would these 80w 600cfm each fan 1200cfm total work for a turboed 12a? |
You need about 2500 cfm to really meet the cooling requirements. Thats one reason folks use the Ford Taurus efans which are rated at about that.
You either add a probe stuck in the radiator fins or add a sensor somewhere else connected to a relay to kick it on and off.. |

while your at it get a mustang thermostat 54mm 86 to 95............it opens at 160 instead of 180

in my experience, i will rather spend a little bit more on afco or similar radiator than chinese aluminum radiator that you find at ebay and amazon, quality is below par. i ditched my cxracing for an afco. with EFan, im using a nissan quest 2 stage fan with volvo fan relay. the fan shroud covers both scircco style radiator and oil cooler, fan shroud need some trimming. low speed is connected using a summitracing thermo switch mounted behind the water pump housing. very reliable particulary on stop n go traffic in SoCal. never had to turn on the high speed fan (toggle switch controlled). water temp is around 180's and it never reached 200. |
Both my gpi radiators work well one is a turbo 12a on 10 pounds never gets hot on stock fan stock shroud holds 2 gallons off coolant snd running VP super cool to help temps

when we were running a duece with 13-B semi-pp turbo and 3-rotor streetported RX-3 back in 2000's we used AFCO. no cooling issues and it maintained below 200* without any cooling additive, fan will only turn on for a short period of time when sitting in traffic and monitored using a small LED in the dash panel, LED is wired to the fan so we know when it is ON. so if you have a good quality aluminum radiator, you dont need the strongesr sucking efan but it will be running for the longest timep |
Yeah my radiator holds 2 and half gallons of coolant snd I run VP cool down

I have been using a Chinese radiator with this cooling setup:
RX7 Fan setup The two fans are 11" paddle blade SPAL 30102054. Combined, these fans draw 2750 CFM. Having the two of them allows the electric motor part to avoid clashing with the water pump nose. This lets the fans come back into the engine bay so there is then good clearance to squeeze in a shroud that sits off the face of the radiator I live in a fairly tropical climate, have an RX7 with Air Con, and they cool the engine very well The problem I've had with the Chinese radiators is not with their cooling ability, they are very effective, but with their durability. I went through two of them and each lasted exactly 13 months (into a 12 month warranty!). I am now running a Fennix radiator and per their advice to qualify for their warranty I have soft mounted it (using some Suzuki motor bike fairing bushes). It has been in the car for almost three years now no issue. The Chinese radiators might also have lasted better if they were soft mounted. |
