I searched with "MR2 fan", "efan", and "Taurus fan" and this post showed up as
well as a lot of others everytime. Jeezus did a good job of documenting the install.
Give it a whirl.

Sorry about that search link, I figured it would work. :)

Here's what I did:

1. Open advanced search
2. Under search term I entered MR2 Fan
3. Under search by user name I entered Kentetsu (find posts by)
4. Where it asks you where to search, choose 1st gen specific

And that's it... hope this helps.

I dunno Mark and Tim, I'm still thinking the stock clutch fan is the way to go. Does a fine job and most folks already own it. Way easy to install.

I'm not a "fan" of the clutch type fans... they do funky things when they start to go. The one on my TII started causing so much vibration that I thought my bearings were on the way out. And they usually go out slowly, leaving you wondering what's going on when your temps start to creep. At least when an electric fan goes, you can look at it and say, "Welp, right there's yer problem." :icon16:

And the less stuff my poor little motor has to spin, the better. Speaking of which, time to go pull that power steering pump...

They've always been good to me.

Add an Efan and you'll be surprised at how much more "pep" the car has in 1st/2nd gears...

that's the first thing I noticed, thought I was crazy until my gf drove it.

$20 ebay fans, 2 of them. flow like 1500Cfm each. Fab your own mounting tabs out of some metal.

cheap as hell, easy to replace, and almost everyone I know runs them. From street cars to 350hp track only rides.

Mr2 fans are my pref. Cheap, minimal fab work(understatement), and reliable

But we're neglecting the most important factor... which setup is LIGHTER?

Clearly you don't drive fast enough 100% of the time, we don't need fans at high speeds! no weight means less work so it runs cooler?! Right?!?!???!!


electric fan felt slightly lighter to me if you include the fan shroud from the clutchin' fan.

Good point, I could save some weight and ditch the fan entirely. Stopping is for pussies! :D

I remember when I swapped to electric in the FC I held a fan in each hand and couldn't really tell the difference. Unless the fan is cast iron like so much other crap in the engine bay then it's probably about the same. Still, both setups are lighter than a midget sitting on the bumper shoveling ice onto the radiator.
