E-brake light malfunction
 

Ok, I think it's the sensor that detects when the e-brake is pulled up that is faulty but A. I want to make sure, and B. I have no idea where it is!?

The light functions fine when the brake is engaged and released... but during driving, or hitting speed bumps or other road bumps or even something as simple as hard cornering, the light comes on. I can lift the handle and release it and nothing happens. The brake is not engaged while driving, of course, but the sensor thinks it is...

Does this sound like it would be the sensor/switch or whatever detects that it's pulled up? And if so, where is this thing?

If not, what do you think it could be?

Ummm... add brake fluid.

No kidding - there is a mag switch on the Brake MC reservoir that kicks on when the brake fluid gets low, and this causes your 'E-brake' light to come on. If you check the level, I'm almost certain you'll find it low. When you go up/down hills, over bumps, etc, it sloshes the fluid and results in the sensor getting tripped.

Have a look - praise the lord you don't have a more serious wiring issue! HTH,

Well, adding brake fluid solved the problem! The little white plastic thing that looks like a lawnmower butterfly choke was about half-way down... I added fluid and the thing floated up like a fishin' bobber. I did this while the car was running, checked the light immediately, and it was off!!! No more problems!
