Dual Dumper Exhausts

Hi guys,

Anyone put on a dual dumper exhaust system on their rx7? (IE: Same setup as Series 4/5 exhaust)

I was thinking of totally revamping my exhaust set-up, to run a two muffler - four tip setup ala 300zx style or the S5 setup...

pics/info would be good if anyone has done it.

One question... Why?

That would be a LOT of work and not a lot of gain...?

it'd look cool... I'd give it that... and might help slightly with power....

Why?

Because it'll look fucking awesome thats why! better noise, helps pass out gasses faster.... I think the rear would look great with it.

yeah, I'm great at passing gasses... so is my car... my car reeks more though...

The position of the gas tank would make it very difficult to install a dual exhaust setup. Using a fuel cell in the spare tire well would make the project doable. Gains would be minimal for the effort (smaller gas tank, uneven pipe lengths) and the extra weight of the exhaust. If you want the look you could just put the muffler on the back without hooking it up. I beleive this was the suggestion last time we had a big discussion about dualies on a first gen.

:D

hmm that's an interesting idea about the fake muffler...tho really if ya did that you might as well hook it all up.... I would really love to work it.... even if it meant altering the fuel tank, etc

I figure just put the mufflers in-line, like under the car, then run just the pipes and some nice tips to the back, around the gas tank, etc with proper heat sheilding, etc in place...

then again, I haven't looked under the back end of my car for a while now, so I dunno if that'd even work...

Not a lot of room to play with around the back end of an FB...

It's just my opinion, but the cost, amount of work, and weight gains don't seem woth the 1 or 2 hp you might pickup... or any cosmetic improvements...

But hey, it's your car, so if you're up for it, more power to ya, and I lilke to see it done...:)

I'm not fussed about the power, I'm more interested in the classy look, much better in my opinion than some ridiculous 5" single exhaust for example. Anyway, when completed, I'll post a follow up

No argument here, dual exhausts are much nicer than fart cans, or even the stock twin pipes...

Best of luck to ya:D
