Drum brake Adjuster piece
So im resembling my Drum brakes and I need to know how the adjuster that sits on the top fits into place, the piece isn't symmetrical, it has one slot that's centered and another slot that's off to the side like this

The piece in your pic is not the brake adjuster.
The end with the wider slot slides into cutout on brake shoe along with the arm that actuates parking brake that is attached to cable. When parking brake lever is pulled up, the arm pulls in and applies the shoe to drum and brake strut pushes the opposite shoe out to contact brake drum at same time. Assemble this and use the pin thru backing plate/clip to hold it in position.’ Put shoe on other side in place same way, The parking brake strut should line up and slide into cutout in shoe like opposite side. If it doesn’t,flip strut over so offset in thinner slot is moved in or out to match the offset to slide into shoe cutout and install upper spring to hold shoes together and keep strut in place. What year is your car again? How about a pic of all the brake hardware? |

Doesn't matter, parking brake strut will have a slot twice as wide on one end than the other. The wider slot is to accommodate the width of brake shoe+parking brake apply arm, other end narrow slot for opposing brake shoe. This is a generic design used on many domestic and foreign cars for many years.
