Driveshafts

Will the front part of a N/A 13 B drive shaft slide into a TII transmission?

I have a TII trans but no drive shaft. Wanna put it into my 1st gen.

What's the best route for a custom drive shaft as i don't have one?

No. It has a different yoke.

There is no stock drive shaft that will work.

You will have to have a driveshaft made that is the length of a 1st gen shaft with a T2 yoke on it.

You should be able to find a drive shaft shop to do it for you.

I had an axtra strong 3" drive shaft made for my T2 tranny for $250

These guys just made me one for $269 shipped.

Driveshaft Specialists

I needed one for my T2 conversion, replaceable, greasable u-joints.

Cool! Thanks guys. Found a TII drive shaft in Baton Rouge so I can get the yoke I need.

Hey Rex4Life since I am doing the same conversion as you, do you think they will have the specs on file so they can make the same driveshaft for me?

Thanks,

Thomas

i did mine the same leght of a gslse driveshaft but with a turbo II yoke and it fits like stock

Yea you can go either way. Have the T2 yoke put on or get a new driveshaft. If you switch yokes you will need to use a conversion u-joint. Get with a shop and see what options you have. The one I used was pretty good, I had the new shaft in 2-1/2 days. They had it made in about 2 hours. Look in my thread "The Chronicles of a TII Swap" for the specs.

Thomas,

I would suggest that you re-measure the info needed for the driveshaft measurements. Being that it is a 79 and a RHD it may be different. It's not worth screwing it up. Those guys can get you your driveshaft in 3 days so re-measuring for your application is no problem.

I can tell you for sure the 87-88 T2 tranny has 25 teeth on the output shaft--you will need that info.

Good Luck,

Scott
