dowpipes for our cars?

What downpipes are you guys using? I need to build an exhaust for the turbo project. Can I use a ready made aftermarket dowpipe such as RB's for the starting point of my exhaust? The motor is a 4port 13B with an s4 turbo and manifold. I might have to use a RB flange( about an 1in thick)as a spacer to clear the intake manifold that I plan on using. Unfortunately I dont have the intake on hand yet.

Thanks, Ed

I really don't see why you couldn't use an aftermarket downpipe from a 2nd gen. If it is a little different, you could modify it a little, but a regular one should work.

You cant use a aftermarket DP, it wont clear the firewall. I used a TII DP, about 8-10 inches down cut, and welded to my exhaust.

I'm going custom made with a split pipe for the wastegate. It's a S5 turbo.

RB 2.5" downpipe fit just fine on my 84 with either S4 or S5 turbo.
The RB 3" downpipe also fits with plenty of room, but it pointed down a little in the back,so I gave it a minute with a torch, then pushed it up till she was straight.

Looks crappy, but she's stainless and very light....

NICE! Would you be able to replicate that exhaust?

Thanks, Ed
