Do I need a BOV for a Draw through system?
So i have been putting this turbo project together and Im kind of puzzled. I understand how a BOV (blow off valve) works but it seems to me it would only work on a blow through system.
Blow through: Turbo-(PRESSURE WHEN CLOSED)Carb-engine Draw through: Carb-Turbo-Engine <<-- the engine never closes so their shouldnt be any pressure going backwards right? I mean the air is getting cut off when the carb shuts. so if anything the vacuum is just increased on the carb when the throttle is shut? PLEASE correct me if im wrong. |
no... there is no need to release pressure before the throttle plates since its not a closed loop system..

If you installed a BOV on a draw through system, the pressure it releases into the engine bay would be a highly volatile fuel/air mixture.......KaBOOM.

definatly not, unless your trying to turn your seven into a firecracker for the fourth

The draw through kit works much like a supercharger, no BOV. Close the throttle and boost will drop.
