DLFIDIS or whatever, using FC coils
 

Here are a couple pics of how I installed my 2 FC coils in my direct-fire system.

I don't feel like taking the time to come up with some crazy acronym for it.

The bottom coil is sandwhiched to the FC mount by there upper coil using 5mmx.80pitch socket cap bolts which are 80mm long,

If any of you want to try this, i have tons of spare FC coils, and/or I can get you some of these bolts if you need some. Trying to cut on on each others leg-work will help us all get further.

did you notice any difference? I herd most people cant

the problem is i threw everything in at the same time, so there is no way to tell how much of an increase this added.

I can tell there is ALOT better consistency in timing in the upper portion of the RPM band between ~6500~9000..

but then again, before this I was on the old points single dizzy.

hey thats an RX-3. I have one also with MSD 6A direct fire and currently working on my buddies RX-3 wherein he is using the FC trailing coils.

With my experience with direct fire, replacing the stock coils with FC is similar to just replacing the stock coils with an aftermarket coil. although its a direct fire, the spark is not as good as doing a MSD 6A/L or DLIDFS; the real direct fire.

just my $0.02.

I don't want to goto MSD, too much $$$ for the weight... vs the advantage you get from them.,.

If i could find an old-school Jacobs rotary pak I would use it?

DLIDFIS is good and almost nothing and you can use the stock diamond coils also. here's a pic of my bro's RX-3. In my group, I do all electrical and install for a pack of heineken. :D this engine bay requires lot of work. lucky I have the electrical diagram so wiring is not a problem.

can you do a directfire on a turbo?with the locked dizzy and the retarded timing? cause doesnt a drect fire bypass the dizzy? if so shuck, could we do thuis on my car, i got some spare 2nd gen coils from a while ago, could we dothis before RR maybe?

Yeah, I'll mock up a set-up using one of the other cars here. I have the perfect dizzy here to lock and get ready for you too. I;ll get it ready using my FC coils, since they are here... then just trade for yours.

Oh, and I found that spare set of weber spacers.. I'll send them to you if you like.

I am considering the idea of moving the coils to the stock battery location, This set-up isn't that heavy, but every gram of weight removed to moved to he right side of the car will help.
