Distributor wiring problem..

Just cut and splice as needed. Are you staying stock or going 2gdfis?

Stock for the moment, I kinda needed it up and running by morning...

Cut and splice sounds just fine to me but I need to know which wires go to each other..

Are you using the FB ignitors?
 

I don't know what happened but my original post went into the ether.

Are you using the FB ignitors? You should. If so, the pic on the right is the two that go to the ignitors on the distributor. I don't know if they're color coded but on my SE, they kind of wrap around the dist from the bottom going clockwise. Then the closet connector goes into the closest ignitor and around the top of the dist is the other ingitor where the next plug goes. You should have other wires that come out of the whole assembly that go to the solenoids mounted on the engine (I think). Anyways, if you have the extra wires. it makes it easier to see which ones goes to the leading or trailing ignitor.
I'm assuming you already have the two coils hooked up correctly.

Whatever you do, use the FB dizzy as its got a better signal generated from the
magnetic pickups. Also FB dizzies need to use FB ignitors and SA dizzies need to use
SA ignitors, you can't mix em up, they trigger on different wave forms generated
from the dizzy.

Are you using the sa or fb main harness? If its sa just wire 12v from the balast resistors straight to the coils. Remove the balast resistors if you run an aftermarket or 2nd gen coil. Then run wires from the coils to the ignitors. Like a piggy back setup. Make sure to retain the tach signal where its at on the coil. Make sure you dont mix up trailing and leading. Also remove the part time trailing relay behind the driver headlight.

Make sure you use j109 ignitors on the fb dizzy.

Using the FB dizzy is exactly what I will be doing when I get back to it this weekend.

Maybe people are/were not understanding the original question in regards to the dizzy "problem"

At the time of thread creation I did not know if I could directly change dizzy's or if I needed to use the SA one and do some wiring changes to make it work.

I have now found out it is in fact a direct swap and therefore can simply plug in the FB wiring to the FB dizzy and be good to go. I also had to further my knowledge on finding TDC, and am fairly certain I have enough understanding on that as well now.
