Distributor timing and split
Hello, maybe I’m searching the wrong terms, but I’m trying to find out how the split timing is controlled on the distributor. It seems to me that it would be controlled by the spacing of the contacts inside the distributor cap, but without a running rotary in front of me, or even a distributor setup, I have no good way of looking into it.
any help is appreciated |
the 2 black plastic parts at 9 and 3, they can be adjusted individually of each other. one each for leading and trailing.

Wow, thanks for the quick response, and that’s exactly what I was looking for.
have you messed with changing the split? Is it difficult to get set where you want it? |
never messed with it. it's whatever the factory setting is from 83.

With a stock ignition just leave it stock. If you have a aftermarket carb with no vacuum advance hooked up. I like 0 leading 10 trailing. Just need to mark the pulley halfway between the yellow and red marks 10°
