a diff question
 

i tried searching for threads on diffs cus i know ive seen em befor but about a million came up so im asking the questions agian..

i've dun another diff :mad: so i think its time to upgrade the crappy series 1 diff too a seires 2 or 3 with a little more strength and rear discs..

i know the pitch on the hydrolic lines are different, but i hear u can get a peice that goes in the middle to fix that.

but are the suports the same? so i dont wana have to do any welding to re fit the new diff...

and last of all when the tire bolt pattern change? cus i dont wana have to buy new rims.

the series 2 and 3 bolt right up to a S1 but you have to change the parking brake cables and probably the brake lines. if you find a gsl rear end u dont have to worry about the bolt pattern because is the same, the gslse is the one that have different pattern

I think this question is better asked by a fellow aussie. I know some of the stuff like that down there is a different than here.

Micky its a S2 diff you would be after(same stud pattern and disc brake), but the diff centre and is no stronger than a s1 centre (they are interchangable!).

the mounts are all exatly the same, the other things you mentioned being different are correct.

you could fit a S3 diff which has bigger axels, but apart from the spider gears the centre is the same again and you will have to change the stud pattern of it too..


other options would be to get a Guru TBD (TorSen) centre or look at a conversion from another car

I think the chevy 10 bolt is the same diff as A777 and I have and we are both running low 10s.
