DHLA48 Rebuild

Hey guys

Today I started on the rebuild of my Dellorto carb. All I have done is pulled all jets and needles and have them sitting in some simple green to clean up. I have a few photos of the stuff. I also think I discovered why the last owner couldn't get it to run with the dellorto on the car.

All tore down

Try GUNK engine cleaner and a tooth brush. Rinse with aerosol carb cleaner.

Thats what I was going to use but the Oreilly's I went to didn't have that in bottle form. I am cleaning the carb itself with carb cleaner and toothbrush.

What kit do I need to buy from Eurocarb? I don't see a DHLA48 kit that comes with the base gasket and the air horn gaskets.

Here is the link to there available gasket sets:

Pulled the jets out after laying in simple green all night. They look ten times better and all the holes are nice and clean.

Wow! They have redone that site a lot since last I bought parts. I would email em and
ask about the kit for a DHLA 48.

I emailed them and this is what they sent back early this morning at like 4:30 my time lol :egrin:
Also he said I would need the 350 needle valve but the carb currently has a 300 needle valve in it. What should I do?

Hi

You need this kit with a 350 needle valve:

DHLA genuine Service kit for 1 carburettor | Eurocarb

gaskets here:

Carburettor to manifold spacer mount | Eurocarb

Thackery washer | Eurocarb

DHLA/DCOE45/48 air cleaner gasket | Eurocarb

Please contact me again if you need further details.

Best regards

That kit will work for you. You don't have to replace the valve unless it appears very worn or is
sticking. Even so the 350 will work just fine, I think thats what I got and installed years ago when I
went through this at one point. Not sure what the thackery washer is for and not sure you need the
flexible manifold gasket but you do want that air cleaner gasket for the air horns.

Well I have a lot more work to add into just rebuild the carb.

I was researching last night about the steering wheel being able to push in and pull out and saw the bad news about the crumple zone in the steering column. Another thing I have to fix... Also my steering wheel is no where near straight. I have a small gas leak from the previous owner putting in a aftermarket fuel pump and the rear end is leaking as well. I will post pics later on and of course I still have to replace the radiator that has a crack in it.

Luckily I should be able to get the fuel leak fixed this weekend with my girlfriend bringing my jack and stands with her to my apartment from my house.

Should I start another thread to post pics about everything else wrong with the car??

The manifold gasket I though I would need between the carb and the top part of the RB intake manifold??
