dellorto 40

my neigbor (who's a carb specialist) came about a dellorto 40 series side draft. he'll sell it to me really cheap. i plan on doing a blow thru setup, will this work on my 12a? he says i can use any weber side draft intake manifold. what do you think? and when i say cheap, i mean like 50 bucks. REBUILT. but i'm soo press for cash so i am only going to get it if this will seriously work well for my application. thanks guys

yeah I thought dellorto carbs would go on webber manifolds, so it sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I'd make sure that particaular carb is a good canidate for a blow through setup first.

40's are dime a dozen, if you don't already have a manifold for it, i'd consider a draw through setup, very easy to fabricate, my vw buddy runs a 40 del draw on a 1776, works very well, the manifold is steel and looks crude but works awesome, all he did was cut out a flange and weld it horizontially on a pipe and weld a cap on the end, not the most efficeinct way, but it works,
if you do it all from aluminumyou could cut/make a flange from a stock manifold or maybe just cut the carb mount flange off the manifold make a flange from some aluminum stock and weld it to the stock manifold.

or you could spend lots of money for bolt on stuff.

I would defiantly NOT do a draw-thru setup. Blow-thru is just a much better setup.

wats the difference between blow thru and draw thru?

dont worry, i know exactly how i'm doing it, just not exactly sure which carb. it will be blow thru fo RIZZLE! :D

Draw through draws mixed air and fuel through the turbo, gets compressed, then goes into the engine.

Blow through blows regular compressed atmospheric air out of the turbo, then through the carb and into the engine.
