Cruise Control ECU?

2 Attachment(s)
Digging for the wiring lead for a new fuel pump on a 1985 RX7 GS I ran across this little control unit hiding under the storage bin behind the drivers side seat. From the smell of things, someone left a bottle of brake fluid in there at some time that leaked. The result was the rusted out ECU in the pictures below.

Can anyone verify that this is the control unit for the cruise control? It has a 13 pin connector and bolts in below the little clarion amp.

Anyone know of a source to get a replacement?

Thanks!

Yep that is the CC unit. Try posting a want ad in the classifieds. Someone might chime in here with one though.

Good luck. I found the fun way that bin rust causes that little bugger to die. I suspect that failed cruise control units is very common.

I have a spare cruise control unit in my '84 GSL-SE parts car. PM if you're interested.

As others have confirmed, that is the control module for the Cruise Control. That unit, combined with the vacuum actuator in the engine bay are what provide that function - and mine also suffered some deterioration that killed my CC function.

If anybody has *another* spare (as Bluecoop91 was kind enough to offer his to the OP), I'd appreciate a shot at one. Thanks, and good luck,

I need one too, although mine has only surface rust. Has anyone tried using a 2nd Gen unit? I assume it would work the same way.

Cruise control unit is still available guys. PM me if interested.

I've got one too, in case you guys are still looking. Feel free to PM me - I'll let it go cheap and ship it quickly. No guarantee that it works, but it only has 70,815mi on it and appears to be in pretty good shape.

Thanks for the offer, I'll let the OP take first dibs. This board is great for helping one another out,

Feel free to grab this as it's not a top priority on my list at the moment.:icon_tup:
