Crap HP calculators suck!

I weigh 2600 lbs in my 84 gsl-se (truck scale) and estimating a 1/4 mile time of 16.0 they think I got 165hp at the flywheel. Thats a pretty GENERAL calculator. Anyone guess what I will run with a k+n filter, RB header, pineapple racing sleeves, 2.5" exh. and a hi flow muffler? Hopes - between 14.5 and 14.8

I use the DSM.net calculator.

The thing is, they say it calculates wheel HP. It doesn't. It calculates flywheel HP.

What MPH did you run? ET isn't as good an indicator of horsepower as MPH is. ET is too dependent on driver ability.

The calculator I use says he's putting 125 HP to the rear wheels for a 16.02 run. How is he losing 40 HP through the drivetrain unless he's running an auto tranny? Unless it was on an engine dyno and he's got the papers to show it, I don't think he actually is kicking out 165 HP at the flywheel...yup...

Well a stock GSL-SE runs about 15.9, so if his car is lightened, for it to run 16.0 means it's down on power... so 125 at the flywheel does sound right :)
