craaaap :(

my motor just went :[

rear rotor...no compression.

the engine has lived a very tough life with me..and i knew it was coming. the motor was pinging while under load and it never wanted to start up when it was warm.

its been overboosted, run WAY lean, run hard during both conditions. im surprised it made it this far...it was a JDM engine with unkown miles and one of the seals on that rear rotor always sounded weak.

:( i JUST had a new exhaust made for her today as well.

sorry to hear, you seem to be pretty cool about it

dbragg 04-12-07 02:02 PM

time to build from scratch:)

Thats too bad, but its a gamble we take with JDM engines.. Good excuse to build something bigger and better ;)

In a way, it's like forcing you to finally fix what you knew was wrong and probably bugging you from the start. I'm recovering my 85se after a long park and part of me wishes it didn't run at all, which would force me to redo things that "kind of" work. Too bad an engine costs so much. However, I keep hearing ride ranges of figures. Any idea what you're looking at and plans of what you will do (rebuild, replace, pro-build,...)

Bummer man.... my buddy just popped his last week. S5 with a T04B. Fuel pump was acting up and ran lean at 19psi.......damn, hope mine is good for awhile.

Good luck with everything.

Where did you get the motor from... So that i know who not to buy from in the future.

K-Tune 04-12-07 03:05 PM

some no-name ebay company haha :D in a way im lucky i got a motor as healthy as it was. it really never smoked...but that back rotor has ALWAYS been weak. i was hoping it was just a sticky side seal...

thing is i gotta drive this thing to work for at least another week, depending on how soon i can find another motor. consider that rotor housing DEAD.

Don't tell me. You increased the size of the exhaust pipe diameter, then it suddenly blew. Not a suprise if you weren't watching your boost levels and don't have the wastegate ported enough.

K-Tune 04-12-07 07:21 PM

wastegate is ported to 3/4" and the motor has been spiked to FAR more boost than when it died. ive put 1+bar through this motor a few times ahaha.

when the car blew i was merely pulling up from a green light..then blammo 1 rotor!

boost levels were still where i set them before the exhaust. (.7 bar on stock injectors :( )

Sounds like you're planning a little ahead Sean. Maybe you've been eyeing that 3 rotor thread for a bit too long.

But it is true. I wouldn't waste my time buying a JDM engine when the difference to a US engine is so minimal. Hell, with the money you buy a JDM engine for, you can probably rebuild your existing engine. And maybe even swap out later sytle housings and rotors.

Edit: The only JDm engine worth buying is the 3 rotor! FTW! And maybe even the 13b out of the cosmo. But only for the UIM, that thing is secksy.
