coolant flush and hose change q's...
 

i got my shipment from victoria british today, upper/lower rad hoses, new intake gasket and new intake o-rings. hopefully this should fix my coolant leak and morning startup smoke. anyways, when i'm replacing the o-rings, should i use a grease on them, and if so, what kind? also, i read in a post that i should burp the cooling system by parking on a hill and letting it idle for a bit. if anyone has any other suggestions i'd appreciate it, its my first time doing a coolant flush and stuff. sorry for sort of rambling on...

Everyone got their own way of doing things. With me, put a little dab of silicone on both sides of the intake manifold gasket. mate it in the engine, then use gasket dressing to keep the o-rings in the rotor housings. For the radiator, look inside the radiator and check for build-up. If there is a lot, you should get it ROD-OUT. But thats just me.

I agree - get the rad removed and dunked by a good rad shop, and a powerfluch of the block and heater is a good idea - changing the hoses: excellent idea. Hopefully you got all the heater hoses too?? They are easy to ignore, but one of those failing will cook you rotor-motor just as quick as a main rad hose failure!! gasket sealing-wise, I use plain old automotive grease, a light coat on both surfaces means the gaskets just peel off when they need changing - AND I also apply a thin coat to the RAD inlet and outlets before sliding the hoses on - makes removal a snap!!
