Cold Air Intake Options?

Is there another cold air intake around for another car that can be made to work for a 12a with stock carb?

maybe im wrong, but if i remember correctly, carbs like a constant air temp, not cold air, i would ask defprun about this, he made a custom intake for his 12a.

Thanks I know that on Mazspeed they have a facts section on one, but I was wondering if there was one that looked better than black plastic stuff. Thanks. Any other suggestions?

I think bonez makes one, other then that youll have to use your imagination..

The stock intake is a very good one.I would suggest a better flowing filter (k&n ,bmc etc) and a 3" flexable pipe leading to behind your passenger side headlight(if you have a lefthand drive Rx7)

Most of the racecars i have seen utilise the stocl airbox, with holes cut into the sides, and airfeeds supplying them with cold air.

If you would use a pan-cake airfilter the engine would be able to draw in more air,but the temp of the air would go up,seeing that air surrounding the very hot exhaust also gets drawn in.

Colder air is more dense (cant spell that). When air is more dense, you can take in more of the cold air, when comparing to the hotter air.

rx7carl and pratch have an awesome tutorial on a TRUE insulated cold air intake..

go to mazspeed.com and search

or search yahoo for "rx-7 mods made simple"

Thanks.

Think of it as a 'fresh' air intake, rather then 'cold' air intake.

yeah
