Cold air intake

Anyone know where to get a cold air intake for a asperated 81 rx7?

Does it make a difference?

Ive searched the web but it seems like they only sell kits for fuel injected models. And all the adverts here dont seem to sell them. This leads me to think that a cold air intake for a carburated car doesnt really matter.

Just add a semi-flexible aluminum dryer duct to the end of you air cleaner (or get the black plastic long one off a caravan at the wrecker for a stock appearance).

If you're thinking of a carb hat and a remote filter, that won't work on a carb'ed application.

Yes it will.

Edit: Here is a picture of an old set-up of mine:

That is exactly what Im looking for, is it custom fabricated?

so will it work or wount it, and any side effects

Yes it will work. I believe I was told it was for a Holly, but the hole for the holly carb to fit was too big for the nikki, so that hole got welded shut, then the assembly flipped over and cut to fit the nikki barrel hole. Then just get a threaded nut, and a long thread screw that matches the pitch of the stock fly nut, and assemble it.

No side effects but colder air.

if your going 2 do it like that a good idea is to box the air filter off from the engine bay to keep heat out from the motor and radiator etc and then at the back or top of the box depending where your intake pipe is, install a small electric fan this keeps air flow at a max as well as blocks out as much heat as possible

...What? I am confused.

If I wanted a true CAI I would have gone with the Respeed rad mount with the hole in the side, or just got an SE right side rad plate, because they have a hole there where you get fresh air from. Also, I got my cold air directly from the headlight bucket, which is not near anything warm.

Now thinking of what you wrote, the car will suck in more air than that electric fan could push.

It'll work for a stock port, anything more than that and nope. With my camden and a carb hat it fell on it's face at 6500 rpm as it could not get enough air.
