Clutch problem new slave and master

i have a new slave and master installed, and i still cant get the clutch to disengage. it would before the old ones went out. i have good extension from the slave, but there is virtually no resistance from at the pedal.

once i started it with it in gear, and i was able to actively shift from there, but it stalled, and then i couldnt get it to do it again. it would just lurch forward, even with the clutch pushed.

is my throwout bearing bad? my pressure plate?

things i would check, throw out bearing, clutch fork, and pivot ball. mine were all fucked up when i bought a new clutch with a new slave and master.

Before you tear anything apart, do this to help narrow it down:

Have someone push the clutch pedal in while you watch for movement at the slave cylinder. If it is moving like it should, then your problem is clutch/tranny. If the slave is not moving like it should, then the issue is either bleeding or a bad master cylinder (I know, new m/c but still junk is a possibility). And hurry up 'cause time's a wasting! :)

+1 What Kentetsu says. Make sure the hydraulics work before looking at the hard stuff.

The logic from your own description says its a problem with the new master/slave installation. You say it worked before you replaced them, then that exonerates the clutch, TO bearing or anything else in the tranny, this assuming all you changed was the master and slave. Take a break and have a beer, relax.

Maybe the slave rod is not positioned on the indent of the arm that moves the TO bearing ? Mayeb it needs to be bled some more?

Did I say have a beer and relax already? Ok, do that first. Oh and make sure you post back the resolution.

i already checked the bleed twice and adjusted the pushrod thrice. and i said i have good extension from the slave.

i swear these damn cars hate me!

Ok, looks like your clutch isn't engaging anymore. Your may have to drop the tranny to see whats up.

Have you tried pushing the clutch fork with your fingers where the slave rod sits? If you can push it back with your fingers easily then its not working correctly and something has come loose or poped off. You should be able to feel significant resistance as you push it back. Make sure you slave is bolted down good as well.

Did you distrub the clutch fork at all when you were removing the slave? It may have popped off its pivot point or something. Either way the video looks like the slave is working right.

i was unable to move it with my hand. so i tried the peddle again, and it moved, then went back with my hand. i guess this only leaves the throwout bearing left to blame huh??

could it be possible that the hose absorbing some of the pressure, and expanding just enough to not allow the clutch to disengage??`

Kentetsu 04-14-07 10:48 PM

I think that rather than the "hose expanding", you are dealing with "air compressing".

You could probably have the system "pressure bled" at a garage for 20 bucks or so. Call to make sure they can do it first though, not all shops have the right equipment.

i can feel the hose expanding in my hand. and there was absolutely no air coming out of the bleeder valve. although, i could feel the line expanding on my other clutch....its got to be the pilot bearing.
