Clutch problem??

So I am driving to work this morning, when I come to a light and the car dies. When I try and restart, the car jerks forward. Now I realize the clutch is not disengaging. I did manage to limp back home to grab my bike. On the way home, clutch itself is pulling fine once onto gear. So, can anyone tell me how far the slave should move the rod on the tranny? Mine seems to be working ok, but I still cannot get it onto gear. Fluid is good and no leaks noticeable. Thanks.

It sounds like the problem I just fixed on my GSL-SE. My slave cylinder was leaking ever so slightly almost can't even notice. I bought a rebuit kit , fixed the problem a weeek later. My clutch pedal would not come up, but no fluid missing, I found that the master slave cylinder was leaking inside, so I bought a rebuild kit for it, solved that problem, about a month later the pedal did not want to come up, while bleeding the system to evaluate it, the slave started to leak AGAIN,,,, Basically the problem was I was using rebuild kits on cores that were bad to began with. So if this is your problem which it sounds like it is get the master and slave cylinders NEW,,,,,, to avoid the headaches I ran into... You can get the set on ebay for less than 100 bucks... Hope that helps good luck

Section 5 in the haynes manual (page 113) states:

CLUTCH
  • Free Play (at pedal pad)... 0.6mm to 3.1mm (0.024 to 0.122 inches)
  • Engagement Height (from floor)... more than 75mm (2.95 inches)

Thanks for the replies. I have a Haynes manual and read it thoroughly. I have good pedal and the correct free-play. Still will not go into gear (with engine running of course). Tried to bleed system and found nothing out of the ordinary. Don't know if I should start buying parts yet.
