Clutch master cylinder parts

hi guys,
so i have a leak coming from the hardline that connects to the brass fitting on the master clutch cylinder. can i get the brass fitting from the dealership or does it only come with a new master clutch cylinder? i'll probably replace the hardline at the same time. thanks.

That isn't brass. It is plated steel. As far as I know they only come on new 84-85 masters. You're in luck about the hardline if your car is indeed an 84-85. Mazdatrix sells the hardline for that year spread. I bet you could make it work on a different year though.

This just happened to me. check my recent threads.

Was in the same boat as you so i went to autozone and they have all the fittings you need. they also have the lines there. this is what i did.

Went to auto zone, took the entire line out (slave to the master clutch) sounds hard but it took me 45sec.went inside and the rep. got a new line bended it just like the original, put the fitting on then flared the ends. everything came out perfect. total was 15$

The only hard part was the middle, where the alum. line meets the rubber plastic line. i couldnt get it apart so i took the whole line off. If you can get that middle part apart then you dont need to take the whole line apart and are very lucky. if you need anymore help ill post a vid for you. good luck

thanks jeff, i'll take a look at mazdatrix's site.

touring, i should have no issues w/ the rubber hose as I don't have it, already have stainless line to the slave. looks like i should only replace the hard line for now. thanks guys.

ahhhhhh theres your problem. the motor is under constant moving and i bet thats what cause the leak. your fitting isint whats wrong, i bet you have a hairline crank in the flare area. thats why they didnt come with the hardline from the factory.

FIND THE RUBBER HOSE!!!

no no, instead of the rubber line from the firewall to the slave, it's a flexible stainless steel line.

Mazdatrix sells the stainless hose lines.

So does re speed. I bought all brake and clutch lines from them. Top notch customer service and parts.

alright, follow up question to this. in an effort to reduce the number of fittings, i am trying to have one stainless line from the master all the way to the slave. was at a cycle shop and am able to get the stainless lines but had a question about the fittings themselves.

what keeps oil from leaking, is it the flare or is it the fitting itself? the reason i ask is that the shop sold me 1/8" pipe fitting (i will have to return these cause i found it's not pipe) but the end of the fitting is flat, there is not concaveness to it, like the stock line. is this going to cause a problem?

Touring 12-21-11 02:18 PM

the flare keeps it from not leaking and the fitting holds that in place tightly. your going to run a hard line from start to finish?

Oh yea on a side note one good way to tell if your slave is going bad is by the color of the fluid in the res. it turns brown from the rust in the slave.
if it was posted before then my fault.

craaaazzy 12-21-11 02:28 PM

ok, makes sense. so unless i can find a fitting that has the flare, then i'll need to order the hard line from mazdatrix. i was wanting to run one flexible stainless steel line, eliminating the hard line.

go to autozone they have all that stuff there. they will come out measure your fitting and create whole set up for you. i paid 10$....

craaaazzy 12-21-11 03:40 PM

touring, u must have a better autozone in florida. the one i go to will sell me the straight hard line which i then have to bend myself.

craaaazzy 12-21-11 04:03 PM

ok, if i'm reading mazdatrix's site correctly, i need a fitting that has a thread pitch of 1.00. now i need to take measurements to see how long the SS line needs to be. should be good to go from here.

Hydraulic lines have a double flare end. It's folded back against itself for strength. Same as a brake line. You should be able to go to an auto parts store and buy different lengths of brake line in stainless or carbon steel. They come in different I.D. sizes w/fittings. American and metric. You can also rent/buy/borrow a flairing tool and tube bender from the store and bend up your own. It takes a nack or luck, but can be accomplished.

Ordered fittings and stainless line tonight. just waiting for them to get here now.
