clutch help 12a SA
 

m clutch is slipping.. i want a new setup.. but whats the best way to go... my car IS bone stock right now.. and is a DD. so wat do you recommend (best and easiest..)

if it was me? i would buy an aluminum flywheel get the 8 inch light weight pressure plate and a spring hub 6 puck friction disk kevlar or organic...... but im new to the rotary world so i may be waaaaay wrong . :icon_tup:

Depending on future mods, if only doing exhaust, maybe intake, no hard launching at the drag strip, a stock oem clutch is fine. If you plan on modding and drag racing, a stage 1-2, organic disc with an upgraded pressure plate will suffice.

A puck clutch is not a good choice for a DD with city driving or hilly towns.

alum. flywheel was actually considere, but the price is a bit high for me.. but ya. i was thinkin the rb s\s heavy duty disc, but i dont know wat to do about a pressure plate.... the only one rb has to offer is a race plate, but i dont think that would be good for a dd. maybe im wrong though... but wat would you guys reccomend?>?

While everyone touts RB, a similiar package can be found cheaper on the web. The s/s pp will be fine. Pedal pressure increase is minor. Often after replacing the pp, the clutch hydraulics fail, add that to the budget.

I have a lightweight steel flywheel in my SA,and I will tell you I miss the heavy stock flywheel.The lightweight unit allows the engine to rev nice,but drivability is a bit tougher.I am also running a clutchmasters clutch which I like.It is a slight upgrade over a stick clutch setup,but not over the top.I may go back with my stock flywheel soon.

just go to auto zone or some place like it, and use that till you start moding.

but why spend the money for an extra clutch you dont need now, and the buy another race clutch down the road, and have to tear it all down again?? just add this to your list of mods. when its easiest and most convinient

well i had it added to my list of things to buy, but i cant really wait to get a new clutch now. im getting tired of haveing to accelerate slower than the 90 lady behind me. i think im gonna keep my stock flywheel, cuz im pretty sure it doesnt need replacing, but im not sure wat plate to get.. i know im gonna get the s\s heavy duty disc.... cuz if suites my needs perfectly. ive been searchin around for good prices and found a few.. but wat about the pp? would i even need to replace it because of a slipping clutch? and if so i still dont know wat i should look into getting.

Yes, replace the pp, over time the fingers weaking and loose thier clamping force. Have the flywheel turned/resurfaced too. If the clutch is slipping that badly this is a must.
