clutch fluid related to cluth slippage?
 

the previous owner had an uninstalled clutch fluid pump. this leads me to believe that something was wrong with the other one. it is using up a lot of fluid. could a faulty pump be the cause of slippage. i did just get a lightly used mazdatrix street strip clutch, but it still feels like its slipping.

A pump? You must mean master cylinder. And ya, If your fluid is low, or you have a slow internal leak in your master cylinder, that it could act like your not pushing the clutch in all the way. IF you sit in first, with the clutch in, does it slowly start to engage, with the pedal still depressed?

yeah, that is a problem for me. and i figured it was because of the cylinder. but i want to know if it will effect the clutch performance at high rpm

Why do you think it wouldn't hurt your clutch perfomance. The fluid is under pressure, a leak internal or external will reduce the amount of fluid pressure applied to the clutch fork.

You'll kill your clutch eventually though.

So replace the clutch master and slave cylinders if you're experiencing a clutch that slowly engages itself :-)
(they're cheap)
Personally, I plan on replacing the clutch lines on mine next time I replace a cylinder, too....
