Clutch Adjustment
 

Anyone know how to adjust the clutch? It engages at the very end of pedal travel, and when I let the clutch out fast, it burns it a little.

Clutch pedal push-rod. And also, the old school RX has an adjustable push-rod @ slave cylinder; that Im sure none of you guys have.

That would be '71-'73. I haven't seen it on '74+.

It is on an 82. So I just adjust a rod behind the clutch pedal?

yup and Jeff is correct on that also. Since I run heavy pressure plates, I have been mix matching 86+ slave cylinder with 73 push-rod.

As far as I know, there isn't any real CLUTCH adjusting you can do with this particular hydraulic master/slave clutch control system. The rod at the pedal simply adjusts in length so that you can get some play at the pedal before the rod starts to push the master cylinder piston...you don't want that rod actually touching the piston with any force when the pedal is simply hanging, not being stepped on or you'll wear out the clutch in short order. I've seen the lock nut come loose, but only from me forgetting to re-tighten it after adjusting...if it's never been touched, I've never seen one get unlocked, but it is a big, wide world, after all...

Being hydraulic,there should be no reason to adjust the clutch.
If it engages at the end of the pedal stroke,the clutch is telling you that its worn out.The disc is worn thin,thats why it doenst grab until the pressure plate is nearly completely released.

pretty soon ull be able to put the gas to the floor and it will revv and the car wont go any faster till you baby it :)
