Clutch ?
 

Today I got in my car to come home from work and within a few pushes of the clutch, it started going almost to the floor. I made it home and popped the hood and found the brake fluid was empty for the clutch. I can see where the black hose attaches to the top of the engine and I can see its leaking from this connection. I filled my clutch thing and now I have pressure back on my clutch.

Where can I get this small black hose and is it easy to replace?

Also, I have been noticing a leak dripping from behind the oil pan that I thought was coolant, is it possible it could have been brake fluid from the clutch leak? There has only been a couple of drops and it looked to have a green tint to it, but now Im not sure. Could this leak from the small hose up top got to the bottom of the trans area before it dripped? or could I still have another leak down there?

Get the steal braided cluth line from Racing Beat. This is the line that goes from the Master Clutch cylinder (firewall) to the Slave (on top of trans). Yes the drips you saw where probably from the slave cylinder.

Thanks. The Clutch hose I need to replace goes from the master cylinder to something sitting on top of the engine. ITs about 1 foot long. Is this the same thing you are talking about. THe slave thing was recently replaced.

Can I see the hose that goes to the top of the trans that you are talking about from underneath the car?

Yes to the above 1st question and no to the 2nd question.

If I cant see it, how will I know if its leaking? How can I fix? I have the clutch hose ordered so hopefully it will be here in a few days.

In the above statement you just said that the hose is leaving at the connection so why are you asking this------- If I cant see it, how will I know if its leaking?

It would be a good idea to replace both master and slave at the same time. If you replace one of them (especially if you still have the original other part) you could blow out the seals in the original part. In your case the clutch master.


Or maybe I am confusing myself with the brakes?

Sorry man, I thought you were talking about another hose. I did not know the little hose I can see was the one you were talking about. Im not really a car guy so sometimes I dont know what is obvious to others.

So, is the slave the part that the hose attaches to on top of the engine?

The master and the slave have been replaced within the past year but the hose looks old.

Should I bleed them like brakes, if so how? THe master was completely empty.

you got to start searching. you will find all the answers

That's why you should have either a hard copy of a Haynes or Chilton manual or like I tell everyone................. Down load a copy of the factory service manual as it covers all of this and you will know by the pictures what the parts are and what they do.

Also the procedure for bleeding after install has been covered a 100 times over.

Sorry to be so adamant about you guys taking some responsibility when it comes to working on your own cars or using the search function but it is the only way you are going to better yourself when it comes to these matters. :nod:
