choke on a weber 48 IDA

I've got this carb on a streetported 12a. Is there any way I can rig up a "choke" to this thing?......

From what I understand from working on my nikki carb, a choke ultimately is a valve that restricts the amount of air entering the carb correct?

I am going to assume the Weber doesn't have this.

Any info would be great. Thanks

no such thing as a chole on a IDA. its a race carb.... simply pump the gas to get her goin

I've got the same set-up on my seven. Starting has never been an issue.

You'll figure out the right combination of pumps depending on the temp to get it running if you go with an IDA. Once its running it will take a little foot work for about 15 seconds and your good.

Aftermarket/performance carbs, Webers, Dells, Mikunis, have a starter circuit that works with the choke cable. All it does is richen the mixture during start up. There are a few that don't even have that, the IDA may be one of them.

Yeah, the IDA and DCO don't, the IDF and DCOE do. I never even bothered to hook mine up.

Get it tuned right and you'll never need it. I never have starting issues with mine.

+3 choke isn't needed on a rotary...

even the PP will idle happily after about 30seconds of running.

Amen to that. Turn key and fuel pump on, then pump gas pedal X times depending on ambient and motor temperature.

Seriously 15 seconds on the throttle, and it will idle on it's own in the 28* mornings we've been having in Seattle.

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure which did or didn't have the starter circuit.

I should really make sure it is the 48IDA that i have on the car....

It looks like what i thought was an ida, but I could be wrong

thanks for all the replies

That's a link to some pictures. I can live without the choke, its just that I'm in a very cold climate, and its hard to keep her going for the first several minutes on cold start.

Regardless, I'm not driving her in the winter time.

yep, that's an IDA... try setting the idle mixture, if its lean it won't like being cold
